Q3Write about any branch of the Visual Arts that you are interested in. Reflect on your experience of different forms of Visual Arts and write which one appealed the most to you.
I am most interested in drawing and painting. I have experienced different forms of Visual Arts, such as sketching, painting, photography, sculpture and craftwork. Among these, painting appealed to me the most because it allows me to express my ideas, observations and emotions through colours, lines, shapes and textures. I enjoy using pencils, watercolours and acrylic paints to depict nature and scenes from everyday life. Unlike sculpture, painting requires fewer materials and can be practised easily in a sketchbook. It also gives me the freedom to create both realistic and imaginative compositions. Painting helps improve my observation, concentration and creativity.
Q4While experiencing performing arts like Dance, Music, and Theatre, did you find the role of Visual Arts in enriching them?
Yes, Visual Arts greatly enrich performing arts such as Dance, Music and Theatre. In dance, costumes, jewellery, make-up, masks and stage decoration help communicate the dance form’s mood, character and cultural background. In theatre, scenery, props, lighting, posters and costume design make the setting and characters more convincing. Music performances are also enhanced through attractive stage arrangements, lighting, graphic designs and decorated instruments. Visual elements create an appropriate atmosphere and help the audience understand the theme and emotions of a performance. Therefore, Visual Arts and performing arts work together to make a presentation more expressive, engaging and memorable.
